If the weather permits, there is a delightful unscheduled activity: a trip up a stretch of the Velino River, which flows into the lake and then into the Nera River, forming the Marmore Falls.
Local guides and fishermen are usually on board, ready to tell you the thousand stories of the place, such as that of Galileo Galilei who, on a bright spring day in 1624, sailed on the lake to carry out his physics experiments; or Brigitte Bardot who escaped from the Roman film sets at the time of La Dolce Vita and came to relax on its shores.
